Witch Wardle

Gullweena’s recipe for Witch Wardle

Here is a recipe, taught to me by my gran, for keeping harmony in the home at Halloween.

Halloween is the festival for all witches. A time when witches fly out on their broom sticks reeking havoc on the good folk of the community.

Witch Wardle drives away bad witches, charming only the good witches to knock on your door. Freeing you to reward them with sweet meats and good things to eat.

Ingredients for Witch Wardle

Method

Gently torment a pan of Wonder Custard and when bubbling fold in two glugs of Truth Tonic, with a Tipsy Spoon. Throw into the pan five drips of Cave Silence.
If you throw in four, Halloween will be very noisy and if you throw in six, Halloween will be very quiet. I find that five is just right.
Stir with your Tipsy Spoon and then leave to rest for 10 minutes.

Into another bowl, break up into a fine powder, three warding twigs if they are large or six if they are small.
Tumble in a flitch of fresh Crab Dandy or a flitch and a half if it is more than two days old.
Chuck in two teaspoons of Screaming Marmalade. Using a Turbulence Trowel and a Fletching Fork upset the ingredients until your mixture is stiff and has the consistency of Goose Gargle.

Introduce the contents of this bowl into the pan of Wonder Custard. Please don’t be alared if you start to see small sparks just above the pan, this is normal. If you don’t see the sparks you will have to start again, this time don’t use as many Warding Twigs.

Leave the pan for a week or two to prove. I like to leave it in a cold dark cupboard for this.
Once the two weeks are over tip the mixture into an old plant pot and sprinkle with Twinckle Pepper and Shimmer Salt.

Congratulations you have made Witch Wardle. Simply put the plant pot outside near to your door and this will expel all the bad Witches and enchant all the good Witches.

I like to serve the good Witches and Monsters Coastal Delight, Snorckle Dust, Hubble Bubble Baps, Cauldron Toffee, Chuckle Chutney but their all time favourite is Stormy Sea Meringue. You can serve them anything that you might have baked or made.

Have a Happy Halloween. Gullweena
