When I was a wriggling youngster I would always delight in the myths told to me by my father and Grand father. There were many tall tales but the story that sparked my imagination the most was a legend told to me by my Grandpappy; his wonderful tale about the Nosy Stones. A number of years later can you picture the smile on my face, when I found out that the Nosy Stones, were for Real!
Carved and shaped by wind, time and tide, the Nosy Stones have scraped a living off the most westerly edges of St Kilda ever since time was a lad, by giving very accurate Weather Forecasts.
Twice every day without fail, the Nosy Stones find their heads above water just enough to play their favourite pastime; I Spy.
The wild blue heavens above bring howling wind, driving rain and blazing sun and this affects us all in Britain. Should you ever need to know what the skies will be doing, night or day, you should seek out the Nosy Stones. Happy to natter, yak and chatter about our Weather, it’s a topic they never tire of and that makes me chuckle and smile.
